Controversy Over Photoshopped Ralph Lauren Model

It appears that a Ralph Lauren advertisement starring model Fillipa Hamilton has been photoshopped to make the already skinny model appear to be even thinner.

This is causing a lot of commotion in the fashion world as many are scared of the influence this advertisement may have on young and impressionable girls that are easily influenced by the media and their portrayal of what is deemed attractive.

The picture above shows Fillipa's size 4 figure on the right side and the photoshopped ad on the left. Fillipa's head appears bigger then her waist and the advertisement demonstrates unhealthy body image and eating disorders.

The following week, the company released the following statement. “For over 42 years we have built a brand based on quality and integrity. After further investigation, we have learned that we are responsible for the poor imaging and retouching that resulted in a very distorted image of a woman’s body. We have addressed the problem and going forward will take every precaution to ensure that the caliber of our artwork represents our brand appropriately.”

To make matters even worse, Ralph Lauren fired Fillipa for being too fat. The Swedish-French model who is 23, has been working with RL since she was 15 and received a letter saying "We’re terminating your services because you don’t fit into the sample clothes that you need to wear.” Fillipa is 5-10, 120 lbs and a size 4.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE RALPH LAUREN AND FILLIPA HAMILTON CONTROVERSY?
